Repeat performance from Mario Grech in the second race of the BSJ 5k Road Running Series.

Rachel Borg produces strong performance to win females’ category

The second race of the BSJ 5k Road Running Series, co-hosted by Corsa,  was an example of consistency when Mario Grech and Andrew Grech ran side by side for most of the 5 kilometre course in Mtarfa earlier on this month.  In the end, ten seconds separated BSJ 5k Road Race winner Mario Grech from his closest opponent Andrew Grech in what was a repeat of the first race which took place in June. Mario Grech’s final push saw him take the second win ahead of Andrew Grech.   Julian Sammut was never far behind the duo resulting in Sammut claiming the third place on the podium.

In the females’ category, Carmen Hili, winner of the first race, had to contend with strong competition from Rachel Borg and Francesca Arrigo. Borg took the lead from the very start of the race, followed by Arrigo and Hili. All three maintained these placings until the very end of the race to complete the podium.

Following the medal presentation, a Coros Malta Pace 2 Premium GPS watch was given to Oliver Cini, who was randomly selected from all runners taking part in the race, by Daniel Agius, representing Agius Watches.

The final race of the BSJ 5k Road Running Series will take place on Tuesday 8th August at 1930hrs.  Trophies to overall winners will be presented at the end of the race, whilst another Coros Malta Pace 2 Premium GPS watch will be raffled amongst those runners present.

Online registration is available and can be done via this link – https://bsj.mt/event/2023-bsj-running-series-race-3/

Medals for the three races will be distributed to finishers at the end of the Race. Those athletes unable to collect their medal on the day will be able to do so from Eurosport, Psaila Street Birkirkara as of the 10th August.
