Cirkewwa was the venue for the third open water swimming race hosted by Birkirkara St Joseph Sports Club as part of the Garmin BSJ Open Water Swimming Championships.
Honours for the day were taken by Gabriel Camilleri and Martina Micallef who secured their first victory for the season.
Camilleri’s victory was not an easy one as only one second separated him from second placed swimmer Giuseppe Borg. A few seconds behind Borg was Mark Sponneck who completed the podium on the day.
Martina Micallef took her first win of the season, with a nearly two minute advantage aheas of Michela Camilleri. Following Camilleri onto the females’ podium was Charlotte Spencer.
The fourth race of the Championships will take place on Wednesday 2nd October and will take place in St. Thomas Bay Marsascala.
The Garmin BSJ Open Water Swimming Championships are being held under the auspices of the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta. The Club expressed its gratitude towards Garmin Malta and Paradise Bay Hotel for its support in hosting the event.
