Vandals cause postponement of National Championships Open Water Race

Birkirkara St Joseph’s equipment transporter was the target of vandals who damaged its batteries compartment and stole both batteries rendering the transporter inactive.
Members of the Club’s Logistics Team reported the incident when they met to prepare for the fifth open water swimming race of the national championships on Wednesday early in the afternoon. The race was immediately postponed through a post on the Club’s Facebook page. A report was filed by the Club at the Naxxar Police Station.
 
Thanks to the immediate action taken by the Logistics Team, It is envisaged that in two days’ time the transporter will be back on the road ready for the Eurosport BSJ 5K Road Running Series race on Tuesday 9th August at Mtarfa.
 
The Club unreservedly condemns this barbaric act and apologises for inconveniences caused to the event’s participants and other entities.
 
As shown on this year’s Club calendar of events, the fifth race of the Garmin BSJ Open Water Swimming Championships has been postponed to Wednesday 31st August 2022.
